Richards was the daughter of her father who was a telephone engineer and mother who was a proprietor of a coffee shop and owner of a coffee shop living in Downers Grove in Illinois, lived at Downers Grove with her younger sister Michelle. She went to El Camino High School and Downers Grove North High School. Following graduation from high school then she was employed as a model. She traveled to cities of fame like Paris, Tokyo, and New York to do photo shoots and commercials. Eventually, she ventured into acting in addition. Richards has a passion for animals and has worked with several organisations dedicated to protecting the rights of animals.
